The Duncan Edwards Foundation

The  Duncan Edwards Foundation was founded by Rose Cook who wrote and directed the fifty five minute documentary “…And Then Came Munich” The Duncan Edwards story.

This tells the story of the world’s greatest footballer Duncan Edwards, who tragically died on the 21st February 1958 from injuries sustained in the infamous Munich aircraft disaster which killed eight of the magnificent Busby Babes, the wonderfully talented young Manchester United players, who under the Management of the iconic Matt Busby were the very best of young footballing talent.

Duncan gave his heart, soul and ultimately his life to the team that meant so much to him – Manchester United.   However, Duncan remained a true Black Country lad who never forgot his hometown or its people.

The aim of the foundation is to, in Duncan’s name, raise funds to support young people in the Dudley borough who have a great sporting ability, whether it is football, cricket, tennis etc but cannot afford the training, kit or travelling expenses. We want to be able to provide them with funds, advice and expertise to enable them to follow their dreams.
